BRISTOL INSTITUTE FOR TRANSFUSION SCIENCES
 

 

The Bristol Institute for Transfusion Sciences (BITS) was established in 1995. Under the directorship of Professor David Anstee, the Institute aims to bring together research and teaching at the IBGRL, the Bristol Blood Centre and the University of Bristol.

 

Research

There are three programmes of research within BITS:

Antibody development and immunomodulation

Novel cellular therapies

Blood safety.

Teaching

BITS together with the University of Bristol Division of Transplantation Sciences offer an MSc course in Transfusion and Transplantation Sciences.


Research Products

A range of monoclonal antibodies have been developed as a result the R&D programme. These antibodies are available as IBGRL Research Products for sale to other laboratories for research use.

Analytical Services

BITS supports research by providing analytical services:

DNA sequencing

Carbohydrate analysis
